Belgian Dark Strong Ale is a dark ale with very complex flavours. Authentic Trappist versions are moderately dry to dry, Abbey versions can be medium-dry to sweet. Relish the medium to full bodied ale slowly to appreciate the varied malt and hop characteristics. On the nose the notes are a complex array of fruity, spiciness and no notes of alcohol.
All of the strong ales have high ABV, so drink responsibly.
Rochefort 8 & 10 and Chimay Blue are widely known commercial example and would be good start.
Rochefort 8 is by far my favourite Belgian Dark Strong Ale
